Honda shadow 750 popping on deceleration I might try another quarter or half turn when get a chance. This helped my popping problem tremendously! Thanks for everyone's advice I've read on this! My bike sounds 100 times better on deceleration. It's not on the level of backfiring but it's pretty steady and somewhat annoying. May 10, 2011 · What I called a "decel valve" in my first post is called the "Air cutoff valve" in my Clymer manual (for Honda VT100 series, 1995-2007), page 245. I have read some write ups on K&N carb rejetting and such, and may consider in future, but for now would just like to get rid of annoying popping. My theory is that with the stock exhaust there is an expansion chamber between the 2 pipes that allow exhaust gasses to equalize somewhat and cushion the flow and quiet the popping. Engine pops and backfires quite a bit on deacceleration and engine brake. I've only had the bike for a couple of weeks and haven't ridden in about 25 years so I don't know if this is normal. The things that go wrong are the diaphragm leaks, the vacuum line or passage plugs, or most likely, the fuel passage from the valve plugs. Riding it around I noticed pops and crackles on acceleration and deceleration, thinking it’s the modified pipes on it I put on the stock ones. I have kinda of a gargling sound now with a pop every once in a while, so I guess that's normal. Jun 3, 2011 · I also adjusted both pilot screws. It has after market pipes which i have resealed. If you don't have a manual, I highly recommend getting one. The only mod by PO was a set of Cobra pipes. It has a k&n filter and stage 2 jets, it had straight pipes on them but the seller included stock ones.
